You can turn your back on them and flee into exile or you can fight for their right to live, for the right to live as a child in a safe world.
Life in the Warsaw ghetto is pitiful. Lack of food, raging epidemics and fear for what tomorrow might bring characterise existence for the nearly 500,000 Jews, who are forced to live there. Despite this all maintain the daily struggle for the semblance of an ordinary, daily life. And in the children’s home on Chlodna St., Dr. Korczak struggles so that each and every child feels themselves to be safe and protected.
The Nazis reign of terror plays hideous dice with life and death. But in 33 Chlodna St. there is hope, love and laughter.
Despite 3 opportunities to save his own life, Dr. Korscak refused to abandon the orphaned children.
Dr. Janusz Korczak was one of the first pioneers for universal Children’s Rights and many of his thoughts and ideas form the basis for the FN’s Children’s Convention.
