Welcome to Horsens Theatre Festival for children and youth

Horsens Theatre Festival is coming up on 40 years. It is an annual festival in Horsens, Jutland and the largest curated festival for performing arts for children and youth in Denmark.

The festival showcases about 35 performances for ages 0-18 years and aims to present a diversity of genres: theatre, dance, puppetry, performance etc. The focus is work produced in Denmark but every year we invite two or three international performances.

Family performances are held at various locations in the city centre. The festival’s youth programme takes place at FÆNGSLET. We showcase performances at 11 different venues. All venues are within walking distance of each other.

Alongside the performances we present and co-produce other activities; the opening performance, often involving citizens from Horsens, a seminar for professionals – this year about Live Art for children – an interactive theatre installation in mid-town and our ”upcoming programme” (Ung På Vej) where young amateur groups present their work in parallel with the professional program.

Tickets are free for all performances but must be booked.
