Unity

Unity draws inspiration from a Ghanaian story about the broom as a spiritual tool used to sweep away energies and carry stories. In Ghanaian, the word for broom means “many straws”—a single straw can break, but bound together they are strong. The broom becomes a symbol of collective strength and unity.
At the heart of Unity is Ghanaian dancer, choreographer, and educator Michael Sarpong, known as Eflex. Internationally recognized as a pioneer of the Azonto dance style, Eflex is celebrated for his deep cultural knowledge and dedication to Afro-dance. Based in Accra, he leads Ghetto Studio, trains the next generation of dancers, and travels the world to share Ghana’s dance heritage.
