Balder and the dragon

An outdoor medieval show for adults and children aged 6 and up

On his deathbed, Balder’s father disinherits him. Balder packs his lute and his few possessions and heads to the great city.

Within the walls, the king’s soldiers rule. There are priests and revivalist preachers, but no work to be found. Balder is hungry and desperate, but then a curtain opens and he sees the beautiful princess. Balder sits down and plays romantic tunes. The princess hears him and falls madly in love.

The next day there is a knight tournament. The prize is the princess and half the kingdom, but first a terrible dragon must be fought. By a twist of fate (or favour), Balder distracts a knight who then loses his head. Soon after, Balder has become the squire of the tournament winner and is on his way to slay the dragon…
