INTERNATIONAL FORUM
The Future of performing arts for Children and Youth
This year, we are hosting a seminar dedicated to the next generation of performing arts for children and youth. It addresses a pressing challenge shared across the Nordic region and globally: too few young performing artists are entering the field of performing arts for children and youth.
SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 27, 15.30 – 17.30
Building on Horsens Theatre Festival’s emerging artist platform Ung på vej (“Youth on the Way”), this initiative supports the professional development of young artists through capacity building, networking, and collaboration with established professionals in the field.
The session will be a facilitated, participatory conversation held in a safe and welcoming space. You are invited to share experiences, perspectives, and ideas to help shape strategies that will strengthen this vital area of the performing arts.
How can we attract and retain new generations of artists? What changes are needed, and what should we nurture to keep this field vibrant and resilient in an increasingly complex world?
To ensure the sustainable development of the performing arts, we aim to connect global perspectives with locally rooted expertise through a structured process of knowledge exchange. Together, we will explore how to create clearer entry points into the field, share successful practices, inspire collaboration, and develop innovative approaches to recruiting and supporting young talent.
Facilitator: Festival and industry developer Karen Toftegaard
The seminar is presented in collaboration with WILDTOPIA and ASSITEJ Denmark.
